A NEW METHOD FOR IMAGE-BASED REPRESENTATION AND FAST RENDERING OF THE 3D OBJECT OR SCENE

An efficient image-based modeling and rendering approach is presented. This method, which is an extension of layered depth image (LDI), uses a panorama-like data structure to describe the model of an object or scene. The representation has the conventional advantages resting with 2D image-space, such as regularity of pixels’ position and epipolar line relationship among multiple views. It is fitful to compress N sample images efficiently, and generate new views in interactive rate.
